Reporting illegal contact lens sales

With Halloween right around the corner, you may come across color-changing contact lenses being sold online or at your local gas station. Contact lenses are a medical device so every contact lens sale requires a prescription - even the color-changing Halloween contact lenses. Each October, the AOA's 31 in 31 annual advocacy campaign connects with online retailers, brick-and-mortar shops and other sellers who distribute contact lenses without valid prescriptions, in violation of federal law. Suspected violations can be reported to the AOA by sending the information to StopillegalCLs@AOA.org. You can also report to the FTC and FDA - instructions are available here.
